Slabs are flat, horizontal concrete surfaces. Slabs are structural elements of reinforced concrete built to distribute loads uniformly. Concrete is poured four to eight inches in depth, on a level surface for a slab foundation, often with a thicker block of concrete around the perimeter.
Slab concrete is relatively inexpensive with little maintenance required. Slab concrete is resistant to mildew, mold, and pest damage and can endure for decades when built properly on well-graded land.
